2428863 - 1016C10 cylinder head - r + r and replace gasket

Removing ( Refitting ) Place the car on a lift. Proceed with removal  - 5530B10  battery - r+r . Proceed with removal  - 5530B52  Battery DRIP TRAY/SUPPORT - R.R. . Proceed with removal  - 1048A10  air cleaner filtering element - replace . Proceed with removal  - 1072C44  exhaust manifold heat shield on bulkhead - r+r . Proceed with removal  - 1072C16  exhaust manifold with catalytic converter - r r . 1. Loosen band and disconnect the upper coolant inlet hose to the radiator thermostat side.
Recover the coolant which comes out in a suitable container.
1. Disconnect the electrical connection from the engine oil pressure warning light switch and move the electrical wiring aside.

2. Undo the bolt (2a) and move the cam angle sensor (2b) aside.
1. Remove the protective cap (1a) for the fuel manifold vent valve (1b) and use the tool (1c) to discharge the fuel system pressure.
Recover the fuel which comes out in a suitable container.

1. Disconnect the accelerator cable (1a) from throttle valve drive (1b) by releasing from mounting bracket (1c) and move aside.2. Disconnect the rapid attachment for the fuel supply pipe.

1. Undo fastening levers (1a), then disconnect the electrical connection (1b) for the injection/ignition system control unit.

1. Undo retaining clip (1a) and disconnect injector electrical wiring ducting pipe (1b) from slots (1c) on the cam cover.
1. Disconnect the electrical connections from the ignition coils.

1. Disconnect the oil vapour recovery pipe from the cam cover and move aside.
1. Disconnect the electrical connections (1a) from the injectors and move the wiring ducting aside (1b).

1. Undo the fixing nuts (1a), open retaining collar (1b) and remove the wiring duct bracket (1c).
1. Disconnect the electrical connection from the engine coolant temperature sensor.

Loosen the collar and disconnect the coolant supply pipe to the climate control system heater.Disconnect the spark plug high tension leads.Disconnect the electrical wiring from the sealing clips located behind the intake manifold.3. Prise up one-way valve (3a) from the brake servo and release the pipe from collar (3b).
1. Undo the nuts (1a) and remove the inlet manifold (1b) complete with throttle body.
Proceed with removal  - 4450B04  right front wheel r r . Proceed with removal  - 7055B66  Engine compartment DUST SHIELD protection in right front wheel arch - R.R. . Proceed with removal  - 7055B91  Right front WHEEL ARCH LINER - R.R. . Proceed with removal  - 1008B10  power unit front mount (timing side) flexible block - replace . Proceed with removal  - 1008A46  cam shaft left rigid mount - r r . Proceed with removal  - 1032D12  timing system protective cover(s) - r + r . Proceed with removal  - 1092B40  air conditioner compressor/alternator drive belt - r + r . Proceed with removal  - 1092A10  Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R. . Proceed with removal  - 1032B10  toothed timing belt - r + r for timing adjustment or replacement . Remove the engine oil filler plug.1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the tappet cover (1b).Remove the gasket.
1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the single cylinder head (1b).2. Remove the gasket.
Refitting ( Removing ) Clean the cylinder head and crankcase contact surfaces.1. Position the cylinder head gasket with the word 'ALTO' [TOP] visible to the fitter.2. Place the cylinder head (2a) back in its housing and tightening the bolts (2b) to the recommended torque.

Place the cam cover gasket in position.1. Refit the cam cover (1a) and tighten bolts (1b) to the recommended torque.

Proceed with refitting  - 1032B10  toothed timing belt - r + r for timing adjustment or replacement . Proceed with refitting  - 1092A10  Crankshaft services PULLEY - R.R. . Proceed with refitting  - 1092B40  air conditioner compressor/alternator drive belt - r + r . Proceed with refitting  - 1032D12  timing system protective cover(s) - r + r . Proceed with refitting  - 1008A46  cam shaft left rigid mount - r r . Proceed with refitting  - 1008B10  power unit front mount (timing side) flexible block - replace . Proceed with refitting  - 7055B91  Right front WHEEL ARCH LINER - R.R. . Proceed with refitting  - 7055B66  Engine compartment DUST SHIELD protection in right front wheel arch - R.R. . Proceed with refitting  - 4450B04  right front wheel r r . 1. Replace intake manifold (1a), complete with throttle body and fix it tightening the nuts (1b) to the recommended torque.

Proceed with the refitting  - 1068A10  accelerator pedal control - check, adjust if necessary and lubricate Proceed with refitting  - 1048A10  air cleaner filtering element - replace . Proceed with refitting  - 5530B52  Battery DRIP TRAY/SUPPORT - R.R. . Proceed with refitting  - 5530B10  battery - r+r . Refill the engine cooling system with coolant  - 0010T20  coolant change . Remove the car from the ramps.
