) Make sure that the ignition key is in the OFF position; then disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.

Proceed with removal - 5580C18 air bag module - r+r . Proceed with removal - 4110A11 steering wheel - r+r for replacement or check for versions with air bag . Proceed with removal . Proceed with removal - 7040A30 Left instrument panel lower TRIM - R.R. . Proceed with removal - 5550A12 complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag . 1. Disconnect the electrical connections from the electric steering control unit.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection (1a) from the aerial for the CODE and release the electrical wiring from the band (1b).

2. Disconnect the electrical connection from the ignition switch and move the electrical wiring to the side.

3. Fit the tool.

1. Release the steering column universal joint (1a) undoing the bolt (1b) fixing it to the steering box.

The bolt is pretreated and cannot therefore be refitted.

1. Undo the bolts (1a) and the nuts (1b) and remove the electrically controlled steering assembly (1c).

Refitting ( Removing

) 1. Place the electrically controlled steering assembly (1a) back in its housing and secure it tightening the bolts (1b) and the nuts (1c) to the recommended torque.

1. Connect the steering column universal joint (1a) and fasten it tightening a new bolt (1b) to the recommended torque.

Place the electrical wiring in its housing, then connect the electrical connection to the ignition switch.Connect the electrical connection for the CODE aerial and fasten the electrical wiring using the band.Connect the electrical connections to the electric steering control unit. Proceed with refitting - 5550A12 complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag . Proceed with refitting - 7040A30 Left instrument panel lower TRIM - R.R. . Proceed with refitting . Proceed with refitting - 4110A11 steering wheel - r+r for replacement or check for versions with air bag . Proceed with refitting - 5580C18 air bag module - r+r . Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.Calibrate the steering angle sensor built into the electronically controlled steering by following the procedure indicated by the Examiner test station.
