CONSTRUCTION FEATURES
By operating a special handle on the lower
part of the steering column, it can be adjusted lengthwise and vertically.
The steering column comprises two sections and is an important contributory
factor in terms of driver safety, because it prevents the steering
wheel from moving back dangerously during any type of frontal impact. The steering column is also equipped with
a 'friction' type steering lock in accordance with regulations governing
the prevention of break-in attempts.
The steering wheel is built with high passive
safety characteristics and it contains the Air Bag system
Characteristic
of working principle 5580C air bag system
.
On versions where they are fitted, there
are also controls on the steering wheel for the radio and the Selespeed gearbox
Characteristic
of working principle 2127A hydraulic transmission external linkage
.
The very robust steering box uses over-rated
racks and tie-rods to limit elastic yields on the steering line
and ensure better driving precision.
