There are three ashtrays in the car: one is in the centre of
the dashboard, and two are in the rear doors.The front ashtray is lit when the side lights
are on; it houses a standard power point; the ring round the power
point is lit with the side lights on. The cigar lighter resistance
is located in the socket, but it can be used for connection to other
instruments or equipment (provided they operate at 12 V). To operate
the cigar lighter, simply press the knob: after a few seconds it
pops out automatically, ready for use.The socket has a heat protection device:
if devices with high energy absorption are connected, this protection
cuts off the supply.The current socket circuit is protected
by a special fuse and is operated by the relay which is excluded
when the ignition is switched on and is located in the junction
unit.The sockets are only supplied when the ignition
is switched ON.
