3237469 - 1020A20 crank case oil sump - r + r clean seals for sealant application

Removing ( Refitting ) Position the vehicle on the ramp.Drain the power steering fluid from the reservoir using a suitable syringe. - 4450B10  Front WHEEL (one) - R.R. - 7055B64  Engine compartment DUST shield in front wheel arch (one), left or right - R.R. - 7055B54  under-engine guard - r r - 1092G10  single engine belt r r - 1076B52  exhaust pipe (one) leaving l/h or r/h exhaust manifold - r + r - 5510C34  rpm and timing sensor (single) - r+r1. Disconnect the supply and return pipes (1a) from the power assisted steering pump and release them from the mounting brackets (1b) on the crankcase sump and engine support.
Undo the drain plug and drain the engine oil.
Recover the engine oil in a suitable container.
1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the crankcase sump (1b).
To make it easier to remove tthe sump, heat the area where the crankcase sump matches with the cylinder block and cut the sealant.
Refitting ( Removing )
Check the condition of the sealant on the rear main bearing cap and if necessary re-apply.
1. Clean the matching surfaces of crankcase sump and cylinder block.
Apply the recommended sealant to the entire perimeter of the crankcase sump.

Fit the crankcase sump and fix it tightening the bolts to the recommended torque.

Fit the engine oil drain plug, complete with a new seal, and tighten it to the recommended torque.
