The circuit for the dipped beam headlamps is operated by the
steering column switch unit
H5
.
By placing the switch in the dipped beam
position, the line which supplies the headlamps
F10
(left)
and
F11
(right) is supplied controlled by the ignition. Each
circuit is protected by a fuse for the junction unit
B1
:
F5
for
the left headlamp and
F4
for the right one.
With the dipped beam headlamps on, this
supply passes through the dipped beam headlamps maintenance relay/remote
control switch
J45
.
If the lights are switched from dipped to
main beam, the suply is interrupted, but it is replaced by the one
from pin 87 of switch
J45
: the signal for switching on the
main beam headlamps, in effect, energizes the relay (pin 86) which switches
the supply to the direct line (maxifuse
J/B2
of
B5
to
2/99 or
B99
from 2/99) which thereby also keeps the circuit
for the dipped headlamps and the main beam headlamps on.
The supply line for the left lamp also acts
as a go ahead signal for the headlamp alignment (
See E3080 HEADLAMP AGLINMENT CORRECTOR
)
and the rear fog lamps (check device inside the rev counter module
E15)
( See E2031 REAR FOG LAMPS
).
