Before detaching and reattaching the Air Bag module, carry out the following preliminary operations:- Turn the ignition key on "STOP" position and remove it;- Disconnect and isolate the battery cables.- Wait 10 minutes before proceeding.

OBSERVE ALL PRESCRIBED SAFETY REGULATIONS (see 5080C - Precautions). BE CAREFUL.

Removing ( Refitting

) - 7040G24 switch for facia compartment light - r+r - 7040G20 facia compartment light bulb holder - r+r - 7040A31 flap assembly - r r1. Remove the cover by taking away the upper supports (1a) and breaking the safety pins (1b).2. Disconnect the electric connection.

3. Unscrew the fastening screws.4. Remove the Air Bag module.

Place the Air Bag module in the special cabinet on a free surface and place the inflatable bag upwards.

Refitting ( Removing

) Observe the following precaution.

Handle the Air Bag module very cautiously.Make sure the battery is disconnected.

If a new module is installed, put the relative labels.Remove the removable part of the adhesive labels from the new module, put it in the special dossier and write the car data (model, registration data, chassis number) and the serial number of the old module. Together with the module a new adhesive plate is provided which has to be sticked on the one already present on the driver side door post. But it must be previously pierced on the correspondant month and the 10 years following the year in which the module is mounted. (for ex. 2007 will correspond to 1997)

Put the Air Bag module in its seat.Screw the screws and block them to the prescribed couple.

Reconnect the electric connection. - 7040A09 passenger air bag compartment cover - r r - 7040A31 flap assembly - r r - 7040G20 facia compartment light bulb holder - r+r - 7040G24 switch for facia compartment light - r+rConnect the battery.Check the system functionality by means of Examiner or another diagnosis instrument.
