3239297 - E2031 REAR FOG LAMPS - Functional description (Sedan)

Functional description

The switch H35 sends the signal for activating the rear fog lamps to the check device inside the rev counter E15 (pin 1 of connector B). The supply for the check device inside E15 arrives directly from the battery (maxifuse J/B2 of B5 up to 2/99 or of B99 from 2/99.) to pins 10 and 16 of connector A, via fuses F2 and F3 of junction unit B1 ; The former protects the left hand lighting circuits, the latter protects the right hand circuits. The check device only controls (pin 4 and pin 17 of connector A) the supply of the rear fog lamps in the centre rear light clusters on the left F35 and the right F36 if one of the two go ahead signals arrives from the dipped beam headlamps or the front ghts. The first signal arrives from the dipped beam headlamps circuit at pin 8 of connector A (  See E2011  DIPPED HEADLAMPS ). The second signal is supplied by the circuit inside the module E15 : it is the same signal which lights up the "front fog lights on" warning light. At the same time as the lights are switched on, the "rear fog lamps on" warning light - inside E15 - is also switched on with pin 14 of connector A providing the earth. In the case of failures in the circuit, the "lights failure" warning light - inside E15 - comes on, with the supply controlled by the ignition (IINT), pin 15 of connector A, of the line protected by fuse B11 up to 2/99 or by fuse F4 of the additional fuse box B98B from 2/99. The switch H35 is lit up when the side lights are switched on by means of the line coming from the switch for the steering column switch unit H5 .
