Description

The side lights are switched on when the ring nut on the steering column is turned to the first position, with the ignition in the ON position. They can also be turned on by extracting the key and turning it in the opposite direction - PARK position - keeping the special button pressed.Turning on the side lights also turns on the number plate lights and numerous other interior lights for passenger compartment lighting and instrument & control lighting (these lines are described and illustrated in the diagrams for the components to which they refer). The circuit is protected by two fuses, one for the right-hand lights, one for the left-hand lights.A warning light in the panel (rev counter module) indicates that the side lights have been switched on.The correct operation of the side lights and the number plate lights is controlled by the check device for the exterior lights located inside the rev counter module.

The following faults may occur:

  • blown bulb
  • bulb s.c. to earth or positive
A special failure warning light, also in the rev counter module, comes on for all other faults in the various circuits. This warning light comes on for about 4 seconds when the ignition key is turned to MAR, to indicate it is working properly, then it goes off.
