3239423 - E5010 STARTING AND RECHARING - Functional description (Q-System)

Functional description

When the ignition key for the switch H1 is turned to the extreme position (AVV) the solenoid winding (pin 50) of the starter motor A20 is supplied. This supply comes from the battery via the line of maxifuse IGN of B99 . This supply is only present if there is a safety signal - gear lever on P or N - coming from the unit on the gearbox L50 : this signal energizes the starting enablement relay J05 , so that it sends the supply to pin 50 of the starter motor A20 . Pin 30 of A20 , the actual starter motor, receives the voltage coming directly from the battery A1 . The direct current generated by the alternator A10 (pin B+) is sent to the battery A1 , passing through motor A20 . When the alternator is not turning and therefore not recharging the battery, an earth signal is sent from pin D+ to the rev counter module E15 , pin 7 of connector B. Module E15 receives a supply controlled by the ignition (INT) at pin 15 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F4 of the additional fuse box B98B : when this signal arrives, the "recharging" warning light comes on. When the engine has been started up this signal becomes 12 V and the warning light goes out.
