Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the upper timing belt guard (1b).2. Adjust the drive pulley bolt and rotate the crankshaft until the timing marks line up (cylinder no. 1 at T.D.C.).Check that the locating dowel on the timing belt drive pulley is facing downwards.
1. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the fixed single drive belt tensioner (1b).2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the timing belt bottom guard (2b).
1. Slacken the nut on the timing belt moving tensioner.2. Remove the timing drive belt.
Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Remove the bolt for the oil pump shown.Temporarily fit the timing drive belt on the drive pulley.

Instructions for correct checking of toothed timing drive belt condition:

  • Check that the timing belt does not show signs of loose threads or cracks.
  • Check for 'black dust' along the entire length of the belt, on the toothed wheels, the shields, etc.
  • Visually inspect the belt teeth for check for any wear of the protective outer fabric.
  • If one or more of the above conditions indicating excess wear is found, replace the timing drive belt.
  • The entire length of the belt should be inspected.
2. Fit the tool (2a) and secure it with gauged bolts (2b)
To allow the engagement of the locating dowel on the timing drive belt drive pulley in the opening in the tool, rotate the crankshaft using small movements.
