3239465 - E5050 DIESEL ENGINES ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT - Functional description

Functional description

The engine control unit M10 monitors and controls the entire electronic injection system. The supply for the engine control unit M10 is controlled by the ignition (15/54) at pin 58 by the line protected by fuse F4 of the additional fuse box B98A . The relay J10 controls the system supply: it is supplied by the battery, from the line for maxifuse EFI of B99 ; pin 13 of the control unit M10 sends the enablement signal which excites relay J10 and sends power to the control unit, directly to pin 5 and, via the line of fuse F3 of the additional fuse box B98A, to pin 4. The relay J15 is also supplied by the battery, from the line for maxifuse EFI of B99 ; pin 24 of control unit M10 sends the signals which energize the relay J15 , which provides the supply to the fuel pump N40 , which is connected to earth through the inertia switch I50 . In case of impact, this cuts off the circuit to prevent the danger of fuel delivery. Pins 1, 2 and 3 of M10 are earthed. The diesel preheating relay J17 is supplied by the battery via the line protected by the GLOW maxifuse of B99 or fuse B39, and controls the operation of the diesel heating resistor O20; a signal of the control unit M10 (from pin 111) deactivates the system once heating has taken place. Control unit M15 , responsible for controlling preheating of heater plugs A40 , is supplied directly by the battery via a line protected by the GLOW maxifuse of B99 . It is supplied - connector C - by the line of fuse F2 of the additional fuse box B98A, and exchanges the command and control signals with pins 22 and 62 of M10 which controls the timer. Connector B is connected to the heater plugs A40. The engine control unit M10 receives signals from the various sensors in order to monitor all engine service conditions. The rpm sensor K46 provides information concerning the engine speed through a frequency signal sent to pin 100 of the control unit M10 . It receives an earth signal from pin 99 of the control unit. Both signals are weak and are therefore suitably shielded by pin 101. Timing sensor K47 is supplied from pin 102 of control unit M10 . It receives a reference earth from pin 104 of the control unit M10 and sends a frequency signal corresponding to the timing to pin 103. The engine temperature sensor K36 , receives a reference earth from pin 85 of the control unit
