Every 1000 km or before long journies, check and, if necessary, top up:
- engine coolant level
- hydraulically operated clutch/brake fluid level
- power assisted steering fluid level
- windscreen and headlamp washer fluid level
- tyre inflation pressure and condition
 | Engine oil It is advisable to change the engine oil more frequently than stated in the Routine Maintenance Plan if the vehicle is used predominantly in one of the following conditions:

| If the vehicle is used on dusty roads, replace the air filter more often than indicated in the Planned Maintenance Programme. |
| The variation in the degree of purity of diesel fuel on the market may mean that the diesel filter should be replaced more often than indicated in the Planned Maintenance Programme. If the engine is not running smoothly, this means that it should be replaced. |
| If the vehicle is used frequently in a dusty or very polluted area, the active charcoal filter element should be replaced more often; in particular, it should be replaced if a decrease in the flow rate of the air introduced into the passenger compartment is noticed. |
| It is advisable to check the battery charge, preferably at the start of the cold season, to prevent the electrolyte from freezing.This check should be carried out more frequently if the vehicle is mainly used for short journeys or if it is equipped with consumers which permanently absorb power when the ignition is switched off, especially if they have been fitted in the after market.If the vehicle is used in hot climates or particulary harsh conditions, the battery fluid (electrolyte) level should be checked more frequently than stated in the Planned Maintenance Programme. |
| If the LED in the remote control only flashes once when the button on the remote control is pressed, the batteries should be replaced with ones of the same type. |
| Periodically and before long journies check the inflation pressure of each tyre, including the spare.The inflation pressure should be checked with the tyre resting and cold.The depth of the tread should be checked ocasionally to make sure that it is within the legal requirements.Some types of tyres are fitted with wear indicators; they have to be replaced as soon as these indicators become visible on the tread.Periodically check that the tyres do not have cuts in the sides or bulges and the tread wear is not uneven; if this is the case, seek assistance from Authorized Alfa Romeo Service Centres.If a tyre is punctured, stop immediately and change it in order not to damage the actual tyre, the wheel rim, the suspension and the steering.The wheels (rims and tyres) fitted in the factory are the most suitable for the vehicle and guarantee maximum safety and comfort in all normal driving conditions.Before changing the rims or wheels fitted on the vehicle, consult the table to see which types are permitted.Make sure that the rim/tyre combination matches the original.Always fit new tyres so that there is no doubt over their origins. |
| In certain vehicle usage conditions (for example, driving on roads covered in gritting salt and/or corrosive substances, unmade roads, etc.) the driveshaft and steering box boots should be checked more often as well as the joints, hinges, door/lid closing hooks etc. cleaned and lubricated more frequently.If lubricants and/or fluids that are not of the same specifications as recommended by the Factory have to be used (in emergency situations), the fluids and filters in the circuit concerned should be replaced as soon as possible. |
| The flexible rubber pipes for the braking system, power assisted steering, fuel system, etc. should be carefully checked at the intervals set out in the Planned Maintenance Programme. |
