3239482 - E6020 AIR CONDITIONING - Functional description (Two-zone climate control system)

Functional description

The climate control unit M70 supply is controlled by the ignition (INT/A) - pin 8 of connector A - from the line protected by fuse F6 of the additional fuse box B98. is supplied directly at pin 4 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F10 of the junction unit B1. Climate control unit M70 also receives a supply controlled by the ignition (INT) at pin 7 of connector A from the line protected by fuse F1 of the additional fuse box B98B. The supply for illuminating the controls with the side lights on reaches pin 5 of connector A from the line coming from the switch for the steering column switch unit H5 protected by fuse F4 of the additional fuse box B98B. Pin 3 of connector A of M70 is earthed. Control unit M70 is also connected to sensors K87 (right lower treated air - connector B - and left - connector A), K88 (right upper treated air - connector B - and left - connector A); these sensors receive a reference earth from pin 14 of connector A and send signals to pins 19, 20, 25 and 26 of M70. Passenger comparment air sensor K89 also receives a reference earth from pin 1 of connector B and sends a signal to pin 1 of connector A of M70. Sensor K89 is fitted with a fan motor controlled by the ignition so that the temperature reading is not affected by the motionless and thus warmer air inside the dashboard. The solar ray sensor K90 informs the control unit of the heat coming from rays: it receives a 5V supply from pin 6 of connector A of control unit M70 and gives out two signals: to pin 24 for the right area and to pin 33 for the left area. The exhaust gas presence sensor (A.Q.S.) K64 supplies a recirculation control signal when the air pollution exceeds pre-set levels: it is supplied at pin 1 from the line controlled by the ignition (INT/A) protected by fuse F15 of junction unit B1. ; pin 2 is earthed and pin 3 sends a signal to pin 16 of connector A of Demisting sensor K03 is supplied at pin 2 of ignition-operated line (INT) protected by fuse F4 of supplementary fuse box B98B; Pin 1 is earthed and pin 3 sends a signal to pin 15 of connector A of M70. The outdoor temperature sensor is located on the door mirror P60: the sensor is connected to pin 21 of connector A of M70. The air conditioning system is equipped with one recirculation actuator ( N82), two air blending actuators (N78 and N79) and two air distribution actuators (N80). The recirculation actuator N82 is operated by the control unit M70 from pins 18, 19, 20 and 21 of connector B. Mixing actuators N78 and N79 are controlled from control unit M70 via pins 14, 15, 16, 17 and 10, 11, 12, 13 of connector B, respectively. The air mixing actuator N80 is controlled from control unit M70 from pins 23, 24, 25 and 26 of connector B. An electronic governer M72 controls fan N85 at different speeds via an earth command: this is ignition-operated (INT/A) from a line protected by fuse F6 of supplementary fuse box B98B. receives an control input signal from pin 22 and returns a feedback signal to pin 9 of connector A of M70. Fan N85 is supplied directly from a line protected by maxifuse A/C of B99. Pin 18 of connector A of M70 receives a speedometer signal from module E10. Similarly, pin 17 of connector A of M70 receives an rpm signal from module E15. Pin 2 of connector A of M70 receives an engine temperature signal from engine management unit M10, or sensor K35. Pin 11 of connector A of M70 controls engagement of the compressor See E6021 COMPRESSOR ENGAGEMENT . It should be remembered that the climate control control unit only 'houses' the control button and the LED, but does not in any way affect the heated rear windscreen activation strategy  See E3030  HEATED REAR WINDSCREEN AND DOOR MIRROR DEFROSTING . The same applies to the infocenter controls  See E4024  INFOCENTER INSTRUMENT .
