DESCRIPTION

Introduction

The rear suspension performs to the same standard as the front double wishbone suspension while offering the advantages of reduced bulk and simplicity.The main innovative features of this suspension are described below.For the geometry/typical angles see Op. 4450A

Transverse arms and bushes

The different lengths of the transverse arms and very stiff bushes allow:

  • the wheels to be moved further back to absorb obstacles without steering effects.

The advantages are

  • maximum directional stability is maintained while driving in a straight line and on corners
  • the promptness and smoothness of the steering response is increased
  • car stability and self-aligning potential is increased under extreme conditions.

General suspension geometry

The suspension geometry:

  • increases the negative camber of the wheel while rolling
  • correctly positions the roll centre in relation to the front suspenion centre.

With the advantage of:

  • improving grip on bends
  • optimising overall car balance.
