125001469 - 4450A10 FRONT WHEEL GEOMETRY - CHECK USING OPTICAL EQUIPMENT - INCLUDES FRONT WHEEL TOW-IN ADJUSTMENT IF NECESSARY

  • Position the vehicle on a test bench, with sliding plates on all the wheels.
  • Arrange the vehicle in standard A load condition (empty + full tank of fuel)
  • Check that the tyre inflation pressure is correct.
GEOMETRY CHECK

  • Check that the front wheel geometry is within required limits.
MeasurementValue
-Front wheel geometry B - A (mm)A vehicle unladen with full tanks43
TOE IN CHECK

  • Check that the front wheel toe in is within required limits.
MeasurementValue
-Front wheel toe in D2 - D1 (mm)A vehicle unladen with full tanks (standard A)- 1 ± 0.6
The front wheel toe in angle is - 9’ ± 5’.
The toe in value, is calculated using a 15" wheel rim irrespective of the wheel size actually fitted; if it is not possible to use a 15" wheel on the test bench, refer to the original values. It should also be remembered that the toe in value includes the tolerance that should be equally distributed between the two wheels.

  • If the front wheel toe in value is not within the recommended figures, adjust it following the instructions given below.
  • Make sure that the steering wheel is perfectly straight and lock it in this position using a suitable tool.
  • Loosen the bands securing the power assisted steering box boots to the steering rods.

  • Loosen the steering rod nuts.
  • Tighten or loosen the steering rods until the toe in is correct keeping the front wheels aligned.

  • Tighten the steering rod nuts to the recommended torque.
FasteningComponentØ  Value (daNm)
-NutSTEERING RODS ADJUSTABLE WITH BOXES (C.S.)M14(Power assisted steering box side) 4.5 - 5.5

  • Tighten the bands securing the power assisted steering box boots to the steering rods.
  • Remove the flywheel locking tool.
CAMBER CHECK

  • Check that the front wheel camber is correct.
MeasurementValue
-Front wheel camber - aA vehicle unladen with full tanks (standard A)- 0°39’ ± 20’
The front wheel camber cannot be adjusted. If the figure does not correspond to the vales given, check the suspension track control arm and the bodyshell.
CASTER CHECK

  • Check that the front wheel caster is within specified values.
MeasurementValue
-Front wheel caster - bA vehicle unladen with full tanks (standard A)+ 3°55’ ± 30’
The front wheel camber cannot be adjusted. If the figure does not correspond to the vales given, check the suspension track control arm and the bodyshell.
