125002179 - E2031 REAR FOG LAMPS - DESCRIPTION

Description

The vehicle is equipped with a bright rear fog lamp located on the left side of the rear bumper (on right hand drive versions, it is located on the right hand side).The rear fog lamp is activated through a button in the centre console; an LED at the back of the button comes on when the light is switched on.

The switching on of the rear fog lamp is managed by the Body Computer: it is activated by:

• enablement signal with key in ON position (INT);
• control signal coming from the switch in the panel;
• side lights on signal.
• headlamp signal (dipped or main beams), or fog lights on.

If one of the enablement signals fails, the activating button must be pressed again to switch on the rear fog lamp.

The rear fog lamp check function checks that the light is working properly: the following is check:

• open circuit (bulb missing or wiring broken) which can be diagnosed if there is no command
• short-circuit to earth (bulb s.c. or wiring s.c. to earth)
• short circuit to battery voltage (wiring short circuited to Vbatt)
• replacement of 21 W bulb with 5 W bulb

If one of the situations described above is detected, the Body Computer notifies the CAN of the failure state: the special ''lights failure'' warning light in the instrument panel comes on and, at the same time, the information is shown on the display.
