125002281 - E3050 ELECTRIC FRONT WINDOWS - DESCRIPTION (Right hand drive)

Description

One specific electric windows control unit for each door ensures the operation of the driver''s and passenger electric window motors.

The driver''s and passenger''s motors are controlled in both manual and automatic mode, in accordance with the following logic:

  • if the button is pressed for between 60 and 300 milliseconds, the operation is manual: the window closes/opens only when the button is pressed;
  • if the button is pressed for over 300 milliseconds, the operation is instead automatic: even if the relevant button is released, the window continues to close/open as far as the end of travel or until the anti-collision safety system intervenes, if applicable;
  • a subsequent press on the button during movement of the window locks it in its current position;
  • if the button is pressed for less than 60 milliseconds, it is ignored (it is considered to have been knocked accidentally).
In the case of inconsistent commands issued simultaneously from the driver''s and passenger''s side, there is no movement.At each press of the electric windows control buttons, a confirmation beep is emitted by the buzzer in the instrument panel.
The up/down commands do not reach the electric windows control unit directly, but via the control unit on the door which retransmits them.
The electric windows control unit also downloads information about the presence of an obstacle during the movement of the window when closing (up) by means of two Hall effect sensors in each motor. If an obstacle is detected, the control unit immediately interrupts the travel of the window and reverses it: this takes place in both manual and automatic operation.The two Hall effect sensors also allow the control unit to memorize the position of the glass at all times.Given the particular shape of the door (no upper frame) it is necessary to make sure that the door housing seal is correct by ''raising'' the glass into the seal with the door closed.

For this reason the control unit also manages the short drop function:

  • when the door is opened, if the glass is in the upper end of travel position, it is lowered by about 4 mm;
  • when the door is closed, the glass, on the other hand is completely closed;
  • if there is a command to close the window with the door open, the window stops about 4 mm before the top end of travel position; and the travel is only completed with the door closed.
The circuit for the control unit for the controls on the door is controlled by the services relay and protected by two fuses, all located in the unit under the dashboard.The electric windows control unit circuit is controlled by the services relay and protected by two fuses in the additional fuse box.The relay is constantly supplied with the ignition ON, even during starting.With the ignition OFF, the Body Computer keeps the relay activated for 3 minutes, but deactivates it 30 seconds after one of the two doors is openedThe windows are automatically opened or closed by the specific prolonged command (over 4 seconds) sent by the remote control button; if the ignition is OFF the Body Compuer keeps the relay activated for 30 seconds.
