125002450 - E6010 HEATER - DESCRIPTION

Description

The vehicle climate control system is achieved through the duct/distributor unit and heater.

The climate is controlled by means of three control knobs on the facia:

  • the left knob controls the hot and cold air mixing flap;
  • the right knob controls the opening of the flaps that regulate the distribution of air flows;
  • the centre knob regulates the air ventilation at four different speeds;
  • the right button switches the heated rear windscreen on and lights up the LED.    See E3030 HEATED REAR WINDSCREEN AND DOOR MIRROR DEFROSTING.
  • If the centre button is pressed it switches on the air recirculation function; the LED comes on when the button is pressed. If the button is not pressed, "dynamic" air from the outside flows through.

A special control unit manages the operation of the system by controlling:

  • air distribution at the vents;
  • fan speed (continuous variation);
  • air recirculation engagement;
The control unit sets the above parameters so that temperature of the passenger compartment is adjusted to the desired temperature. Depending on the set requirements, the control unit establishes the inlet speed for the air into the passenger compartment via the engine fan and the temperature by means of a mixture actuator; the distribution of the flows is also set by another actuator and, lastly, the interior air/exterior air recirculation function by a final actuator.For more details    Characteristic of working principle 5020 HEATER
