125000870 - 1004E10 ENGINE, REMOVED - REMOVE CYLINDER HEAD AND OIL SUMP FOR INSPECTION - INCLUDES POSITIONING ON STAND AND REMOVAL

Proceed with the removal Op. 1004D40 MOTORE - POSA SU CAVALLETTO E RIMOZIONE.
Support the engine on the overhaul stand using the recommended equipment.
1. Adjust the moving tensioner using the wrench to slacken the auxiliary drive belt.2. Remove the single engine components drive belt.3. Undo the bolt (3a) and remove the auxiliary drive belt fixed tensioner (3b).
1. Undo the bolts (1a) and remove the timing belt guard (1b).2. Loosen the timing belt tensioner nut.3. Release the timing drive belt from the camshaft drive pullies.4. Disconnect the electrical connection for the air conditioning compressor.5. Undo the bolts (5a) and remove the air conditioner compressor (5b).
1. Disconnect the connector for the coolant outlet pipe from the water/oil heat exchanger.2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the air conditioner compressor mounting (2b).3. Undo the bolt fixing the exhaust manifold ot the mounting bracket on the crankcase.4. Undo the nuts (4a) and remove the exhaust manifold (1b).5. Undo the bolt (5a) and remove the engine oil dipstick (5b).
1. Disconnect the intermediate coupling for the water/oil heat exchanger coolant supply pipe.2. Undo the bolts (2a) and the nuts (2b) and remove the pump rigid inlet pipe (2c).3. Remove the seal.4. Undo the bolts (4a) and remove the left side timing belt guard (4b).
1. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the power assisted steering fluid reservoir mounting bracket (1b).2. Undo the bolt (2a) and remove the right side timing belt guard (2b).
1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the cam angle sensor.

2. Undo the bolts (2a) and move the power steering fluid reservoir (2b) away.3. Disconnect the electrical connection for the rpm sensor.

4. Disconnect the electrical connection for the detonation sensor.

Disconnect the electrical wiring for the rpm and timing and detonation sensors from the bands under the intake chamber.1. Undo the bolts fixing the mounting bracket to the intake chamber.2. Disconnect the electrical connections from the ignition coils and release the electrical wiring from the bands.

3. Disconnect the earth lead from the cylinder head.4. Disconnect the high tension leads (4a) from the spark plugs using tool (4b).

5. Disconnect the oil vapour recovery pipe from the tappet cover.
1. Unscrew the bolts (1a) and remove the bracket (1b) complete with ignition coils and high tension leads.2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the tappet cover (2b) complete with gasket.3. Undo the bolts (3a) and remove the cylinder head assembly (3b).
Do not reuse the cylinder head bolts more than four times because they undergo permanent lengthening whenever they are tightened.Replace the bolts if the number of times that the bolts have been tightenened to the cylinder head is unknown.
4. Remove the cylinder head gasket.
Rotate the engine through 180° on the overhaul stand.1. Undo the bolt connecting the crankcase sump to the intermediate shaft mount.2. Undo the front and rear bolts (2a) fixing the crankcase sump using the tool (2b).

4. Remove the crankcase sump.
To release the crankcase sump, tap it gently using a wooden or resin hammer, then use a screwdriver for leverage in the projections at the sides of the sump.
