2398809 - K11 DISPLAY SIGNALS ICE DANGER WITH HIGH OUTSIDE TEMPERATURE

The Instrument Panel Node receives outside temperature information from the Driver's Door Node which, in turn, receives the figure from the sensor on the moving part of the driver's door mirror.
Results of the tests
1PRELIMINARY CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the temperature value shown on the instrument panel display is plausible. Also check that when the instrument panel node is switched off and then on again, the temperature value is plausible. Continue to Step 17 Implausible value. Continue to Step 1
There are dashes in place of the temperature value on the display Continue to Step 10
The value is correct when the ignition is switched back on. Continue to Step 9
2CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check, in the Instrument Panel Node ambient, that there are no errors and the outside temperature parameter is present. Continue to Step 8Impossible to connect with the instrument panel node.Continue to Step 3
Errors present. Continue to Step 6
Temperature parameter with incorrect valuesContinue to Step 10
3ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the Instrument Panel Node electrical power supply is correct See   E6020  AIR CONDITIONING Continue to Step 4Positive and/or earth electrical power supply fault. Repair and/or replace the faulty component (if a fuse is involved, search for the cause of the problem).
4CHECK ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONSAll OKProblems metOperation
Check the wiring/electrical connections for the Instrument Panel Node, in particular making sure that each individual pin is correctly connected and inserted in its housing. Continue to Step 5Wiring and/or electrical connections not working.Restore the wiring and/or damaged electrical connections.
5CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Using the Examiner, check whether it is possible to connect with the Instrument Panel Node. Continue to Step 2Impossible to connect with the control unit.Replace the instrument panel control unit Op. 5560B11
6ERRORS CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation

Using the Examiner in the Instrument Panel Node ambient, check that one or more of the following errors is not present:

  • CAN line
  • EEPROM.
  • Outside air temperature sensor
Continue to Step 8No additional information and/or BUS off detected. Continue to Step 7
EEPROM faulty Replace the instrument panel control unit Op. 5560B11
Outside air temperature sensor faulty. Continue to Step 10
7ERRORS CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
With the Examiner in Instrument Panel Node ambient, check that there are no CAN line and/or other component errors End of diagnosisCAN and/or other components faulty. Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment.
8CHECK WITH ACTIVE DIAGNOSISAll OKProblems metOperation
Using the Examiner in the active diagnosis ambient, check that the Autotest function is activated Continue to Step 9The function in question is not controlled by active diagnosis. Replace the instrument panel control unit Op. 5560B11
9CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Using the Examiner diagnostic equipment, check the state of the network in the CAN information ambient. Continue to Step 2Impossible to connect with the control units.Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment.
Restore correct operation
10CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check, in the Driver's Door GE Procond Node ambient, that there are no errors and the outside temperature parameter value is present. Continue to Step 17Impossible to connect with the Driver's Door Node Continue to Step 11
Errors present. Continue to Step 14
The temperature value is incorrect. Continue to Step 16
11ELECTRICAL POWER SUPPLY CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Check that the electrical power supply for the Driver's Door Node is correct See   E6020  AIR CONDITIONING Continue to Step 12Positive and/or earth electrical power supply fault. Repair and/or replace the defective component (if a fuse is involved, search for the cause of the problem).
12CHECK ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONSAll OKProblems metOperation
Check the wiring/electrical connections between the Driver's Door Node and the temperature sensor, in particular that each pin is correctly connected and inserted in its housing. Continue to Step 13Wiring and/or electrical connections not working.Restore the wiring and/or damaged electrical connections.
13CHECKING WITH DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems metOperation
Using the Examiner, check that it is possible to connect to the Driver's Door Node. Continue to Step 10Impossible to connect with the control unit.Replace the Driver's Door Node control unit Op.   5505A42
14ERRORS CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation

Using the Examiner in the Driver's Door Node ambient, check that one or more of the following errors is present:

  • CAN line
  • EEPROM.
  • Air temperature sensor
Continue to Step 15No additional information and/or BUS off detected. Continue to Step 15
EEPROM faulty (internal fault) Replace the driver's door control unit Op.   5505A42
Outside air temperature sensor faulty. Continue to Step 16
15ERRORS CHECKAll OKProblems metOperation
Using the Examiner in the Driver's Door Node ambient, check that there are no CAN line and/or other component errorsEnd of diagnosisCAN faulty. and/or other components. Continue according to the instructions for the diagnostic equipment.
