2399197 - E2031 REAR FOG LAMPS - Description

Description

The vehicle is equipped with two bright rear fog lamps located in the rear light clusters.The rear fog lamps are activated through the button in the control panel to the left of the steering wheel; when the lights are on the warning light in the instrument panel comes on.

The switching on of the rear fog lamp is managed by the Body Computer: it is activated in the following conditions:

  • go ahead signal with key in ON position (INT);
  • signal coming from the switch;
  • dipped headlamps or fog lights on signal.
In addition, if the dipped headlamps or the fog lights are switched off, the rear fog lamps are also switched off if the button is pressed. When the lights are switched on again, the rear fog lamps do not come back on automatically, but only if the button is pressed.If the ignition key is switched OFF and then turned back to the ON position, the operating button must be pressed once again in order to turn the rear fog lamps back on.

The correct operation of the lights is controlled by the rear fog lamp 'check' function: the following are checked:

  • open circuit or bulb missing
  • short circuit to earth (bulb short circuit or wiring short circuit to earth)
  • short circuit to Vbatt (wiring short circuit to Vbatt)
If one of the situations described above is detected, the Body Computer notifies the CAN of the failure state: a special 'lights failure' warning light comes on in the instrument panel and, at the same time, the information is shown on the display.
