2401089 - Introduction - BRAKING SYSTEM

The braking system is the dual circuit cross-over type which, in the case of a circuit failure, allows braking on both sides of the vehicle. Each circuit acts on one front wheel and the diagonally opposite rear wheel. All versions are fitted with a 10' brake servo.The brake pump is made from aluminium to be lighter.Given the difference in weight and power of the different engine types, the braking systems differ as follows:

1.2 16v and 1.4 16v petrol versions and 1.3 multijet version:

• 257 x 22 mm diameter ventilated disc
• ZOH Bosch brake calipers with 54 mm diameter piston,
• brake pad surface area 43 cm[sup2 ]
• rear drum diameter 203 mm

1.9 JTD diesel engine:

• ventilated disc with diameter 284 x 22 mm
• ZOH Bosch brake calipers with 54 mm diameter piston,
• brake pad surface area 52 cm[sup2 ]
• rear drum diameter 228 mm
