2401175 - E7045 ELECTRIC STEERING - Functional description
Functional description
The electric power steering control unit
M86 monitors and
controls the entire electric driving system electrically.
The control unit is supplied directly by
the battery via a line protected by fuse F2 of the engine compartment
junction unit
B1 at pin A of connector A of M86.
Pin B of
connector A of
M86 is earthed.
The supply controlled by the ignition (15/54)
reaches pin 1 of connector B of
M86 from the line protected by
fuse F24 of the engine compartment junction unit B1.
Control unit
M86 is connected to the
CAN pins 5 and 6 of connector B with the other nodes, particularly
the Body Computer M1 and the instrument panel E50 to which it sends the
signals for the electric steering failure warning light.
The CITY mode (less effort to turn the wheel)
selection button is located in tunnel switch unit
H35; the engagement
earth signal for the function reaches the control unit M86 via the
CAN through the Body Computer M1, pin 19 of connector D.
The information that the CITY function is
on is also sent to the instrument panel
E50 which lights up the
CITY warning light.
The self-test data can be read by connecting
to connector C of the Body Computer
M1 pin 9: it receives the
signals from pin 4 of connector B of M86 via the specific tester
line: pin 11 of connector H: M1
