3315753 - E7021 ASR / TCS - Functional description (VDC, Automatic transmission)

Functional description

The ASR and TCS functions are managed by ABS electronic control unit M50 , which controls pressure in the hydraulic circuit. In addition to all the normal connections of the ABS function (  See E7020  ABS ), the control unit also controls the ASR function: it is connected - pin 27 - using the specific deactivation button, located in the controls panel on the tunnel H36 ; in addition, when the function is switched off, the control unit lights up - from pin 7 - the LED beside the button: both the button and the LED of H36 receive an ignition-operated supply (INT/A) from the line protected by fuse F5 of the junction unit B1. The control unit M50 indicates the intervention of and faults in the ASR/TCS system from pin 22 to pin 18 of connector C of E50 . If the ASR/TCS system intervenes, the VDC warning light will flash. If there is a fault, however, the system is disabled and the warning light on the instrument panel E50 and the LED of the ASR/TCS button H36 come on permanently. Pin 5 of control unit M50 is earthed.

The antislip regulation function (ASR) acts on ABS electronic control unit M50 which controls pressure in the hydraulic circuit, and also engine management unit M10, by altering drive torque as required. Both control units are connected via a CAN line:

  • from pin 40 of M50 to pin 12 of connector D of M10 ;
  • from pin 24 of M50 to pin 11 of connector D of M10 .
