3315752 - E7021 ASR / TCS - Functional description

Functional description

Antislip regulation function ASR is managed by ABS electronic control unit M50, which controls pressure in the hydraulic circuit In addition to all the normal connections of the ABS function (  See E7020  ABS ) the control unit also controls the ASR function: it is connected - pin 31 - with the specific deactivation button, located in the controls panel on tunnel H36 ; in addition, when the function is switched off, the control unit lights up - from pin 24 - the LED beside the button: both the button and the LED of H36 receive an ignition-operated supply (INT/A) from the line protected by fuse F5 of junction unit B1 . Simultaneously, control unit M50 sends a signal - pin 28 - to instrument E50 - pin 5 of connector A - which activates the ASR warning light. The signal sent to the instrument turns on the warning light because instrument E50 is ignition-operated (INT/A) via a line protected by fuse F1 of junction unit B1 . The ARS function is also equipped with a self-diagnostic facility: when the control unit detects problems, it sends a signal which turns on the ASR warning light as described above. (the LED beside the key does not come on if faults are present).

Functional description

The antislip regulation function (ASR) acts on ABS electronic control unit M50 which controls pressure in the hydraulic circuit, and also engine management unit M10, by altering drive torque as required. Both control units are connected via a CAN line:

  • from pin 29 of M50 to pin 12 of connector D of M10 ;
  • from pin 30 of M50 to pin 11 of connector D of M10 ;

Functional description

Both control units M50 and M10 are not connected directly by via EAT control unit M55 , (  See E7050  AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION ), which controls the antislip function.

Functional description

The function TCS - adopted on some versions - is managed solely by ABS electronic control unit M50 which controls hydraulic pressure in the circuit.
In this case, no connection exists to the to the engine control unit M10
In addition to all the normal connections of the ABS function (  See E7020  ABS ), the control unit also controls the TCS function: it is connected - pin 31 - with the specific deactivation button, located in the controls panel on tunnel H36 ; in addition, when the function is switched off, the control unit lights up - from pin 24 - the LED beside the button: both the button and the LED of H36 receive an ignition-operated supply (INT/A) from the line protected by fuse F5 of the junction unit B1 . Simultaneously control unit M50 sends a signal - pin 28 - to the instrument E50 - pin 5 of connector A - which turns on the TCS warning light. The signal sent to the instrument turns on the warning light because instrument E50 is ignition-operated (INT/A) via a line protected by fuse F1 of junction unit B1 . The TCS function is also eqiupped with a self-diagnostic function. When the control unit detects problems, it sends a signal which lights up the TCS warning light as described above. (the LED beside the key does not come on if faults are present).
