Functional description

Conventional connections for radio P20 are connected to the back of the ICS unit: supply connector A and connector B for connection with the cases. The radio P20 is supplied directly from the battery. (maxifuse CENTR of B5 ) - to pin 4 of connector A - protected by fuse F4 of junction unit B1 . Pin 8 of connector A is earthed at C25 . Pin 1 of connector A receives the speedometer signal from the instrument E50 - pin 8 of connector B. Pin 5 of connector A is connected with the power source/amplifier aerial P25 , which controls the aerial built into the heated rear window. In addition, the radio P20 is connected to the aerial by means of the specific coaxial cable.

Connector B of P20 is also the source of the cables carrying signals to the car's loudspeakers:

  • pins 1 and 2 for the right rear door speakers P41 and P48 .
  • pins 7 and 8 for the left rear door speakers P40 and P47 .
  • pins 3 and 4 for the left front door speakers P45 and P35 .
  • pins 5 and 6 to the right front speakers P36 and P46 ,
ICS display E60 - connector B pins 16 and 18 - controls radio P20 when it receives signals from device H16 (radio controls on the steering wheel) via the clock spring. The steering wheel radio controls H16 are lit in parallel with ICS display E60.
