3314626 - 4110A30 Steering control shaft SUPPORT - R.R.

Removing ( Refitting ) Place the steering wheel in the centred position with the wheels straight. - 7040A43  cover (one only) for wiring beneath facia - r r .  - 7040A65  passenger compartment box lock , one , r r . 1. Disconnect the electrical connection from the steering angle sensor.

The steering angle sensor is built into the steering column and cannot be dismantled.

1. Remove the rubber protector (1a) and the accelerator pedal travel stop (1b). 1. Move aside the floor carpet, unscrew the nuts (1a) and remove the steering column universal joint guard (1b).2. Undo the bolt securing the steering column to the power steering box.

The bolt is pretreated and cannot be refitted.

 - 5580C18  air bag module - r+r .

Closely observe the safety regulations established for this operation.

 - 7040A26  steering column trim - r+r .  - 4110A11  steering wheel - r+r for replacement or check for versions with air bag .  - 5550A12  complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag . 1. Release the electronic key aerial from the ignition switch block.2. Release the electrical wiring from the clip (2a) and disconnect the electrical connection from the ignition switch (2b).

3. Undo the bolt securing the trim on the support with steering shafts. 1. Unscrew the nut (1a), and remove the lever (1b) and stop (1c) of the steering wheel adjuster.  - 5505A18  multi-function control unit - r r . 1. Unscrew the bolt (1a) and move the junction unit (1b). 1. Unscrew the bolt securing the support with steering shafts.Disconnect the earth lead from the support with steering shafts. 1. Remove the support with steering shafts. Refitting ( Removing ) Refit in its seating the support with steering shafts.Connect the earth lead to the support with steering shafts.Tighten the bolt securing the support with steering shafts.Refit the junction unit in its seating and secure with its bolt. - 5505A18  multi-function control unit - r r . Fit the steering wheel adjuster lever and stop, and secure them with their nut.Tighten the bolt securing the trim on the support with steering shafts.Connect the ignition switch electrical connection and secure the electrical wiring with its clip.Fit the electronic key aerial to the ignition switch block. - 5550A12  complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag .  - 4110A11  steering wheel - r+r for replacement or check for versions with air bag .  - 7040A26  steering column trim - r+r .  - 5580C18  air bag module - r+r . 1. Tighten the bolt securing the steering column to the power steering box to the specified torque.

2. Fit the universal joint protector (2a) and secure it with its nuts (2b). Put the floor carpet back in place. Connect the electrical connection of the steering angle sensor. Fit the accelerator pedal travel stop complete with rubber protector.

For the 2.0 T.S. engine, after refitting, adjust the accelerator control cable. (Refer to Op.   1068A30  accelerator control cable - r + r

For 2.0 T.S. EURO 3 - 2.5 V6 - 3.0 V6 - 2.0 TB - 2.4 JTD engines, after refitting, adjust the accelerator potentiometer (Refer to Op.   1068A50  accelerator potentiometer - r+r
