3315540 - E2012 MAIN BEAM HEADLAMPS - Functional description
Functional description
The circuit for the main beam headlamps
is operated by the steering column switch unit
H5
, placing
the switch in the main beam headlamps position or closing the 'flasher' contact.
In the first case, the supply arrives from the exterior lights control
H6, in the dipped beam position (
See
E2011
DIPPED HEADLAMPS
)
In the second case, the supply arrives directly from the line controlled
by the ignition (INT/A) at pin 4, via fuse
F1
of the junction
unit
B1
.
When the lights control
H6
is switched
to the main beam position, the stalk unit
H5
, with pin 3
- connector A, controls the supply of these lights, energising the
coil of the relay
R4
of
B3
.
The contact of the relay
R4
supplies,
via fuses
F1
and
F2
contained in
B3
, the
headlamps
F11
(right) and
F10
(left) respectively,
in the 'normal' or XENON version.
The fuse
F2
also supplies the 'main
beam headlamps on' warning light on the instrument panel
E50
(pin 6 - connector C), while pin 16 of connector A supplies the
earth
C21
.
