3315693 - E5010 STARTING AND RECHARING - Functional description
Functional description
Engine start-up via starter motor
A20
is controlled by start-up enablement relay
J5.
The relay is supplied from the battery via
terminal unit
A5
and start-up enablement MAXIFUSE
B9.
Ignition switch
H1
receives battery
power via the line of maxifuse ACC of
B5
.
When the ignition key for the switch
H1
is turned to the extreme position (AVV) [START], if all the safety
conditions are followed, the relay
J5
is energized via the
diode
M11
which supplies the solenoid winding (pin 50) of
the starter motor
A20
.
Pin 30 of
A20
, the actual starter
motor, is supplied with voltage directly from the battery via terminal
unit
A5
.
A start-up signal - pin 50 of
H1
is also directed to instrument panel
E50
- pin 13 of connector
A - whose internal software uses the information to set the system
to 'engine running' status. (see E4010 INSTRUMENT PANEL)
The start-up signal also reaches relay
R1
,
which supplies numerous ignition-operated lines (INT/A).(see also
E1010 FUEL SYSTEM).
The direct current generated by the alternator
A10
(pin B+) is sent to the battery
A1
through motor
A20
. When the alternator is not turning, i.e. not charging
the battery, an earth signal is sent from pin D+ to instrument
panel
E50
- pin 7 of connector A.
Instrument panel
E50
ingition-operated
power supply (INT/A) passes through fuse
F1
of junction
unit
B1
to pin 15 of connector A.
With the engine switched off but the panel
on (INT/A), the recharging warning light in the panel
E50
is on because there is an earth signal at pin D+ of the alternator
A10
.
When the engine has been started up and
the alternator is carrying out its recharging function, the warning
light goes out because pin D+ has a +12V signal.
