) Position the vehicle on the ramp. - 7040D12 engine front side cover (one) lh or rh - r r (right and left) - 7040D30 engine bay front beam cover - r r . - 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r . 1. Undo the nuts (1a) and remove the protective heat shield (1b).2. Undo the bolt (2a) and remove the complete engine oil dipstick (2b).

1. Undo the nuts fixing the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r . 1. Undo the bolt fixing the exhaust manifold mounting bracket.2. Undo the nuts fixing the exhaust pipe mounting to the engine/manifold, manifold side.

1. Remove the exhaust manifold releasing it from the studs on the cylinder head.

Refitting ( Removing

) Place the exhaust manifold back in its housing.1. Tighten the nuts fixing the exhaust pipe mounting to the engine/manifold to the recommended torque.

2. Tighten the bolt fixing the exhaust manifold mounting.

- 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r . 1. Tighten the nuts fixing the exhaust manifold to the cylinder head to the recommended torque.

Place the complete engine oil dipstick back in its housing and fix it using the bolt.Fit the heat shield for the exhaust manifold and fix it using the nuts. - 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r . - 7040D30 engine bay front beam cover - r r . - 7040D12 engine front side cover (one) lh or rh - r r (right and left) Remove the car from the ramp.

Removing ( Refitting

) Position the vehicle on the ramp. Proceed with the removal - 7040D12 engine front side cover (one) lh or rh - r r (Right and left sides). Proceed with the removal - 7040D30 engine bay front beam cover - r r . Proceed with the removal - 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r . Proceed with the removal - 1076A46 heat shield for catalytic preconverter r r . 1. Undo the bolt (1a) and remove the engine oil dipstick tube (1b).2. Undo the upper nut securing the catalytic preconverter to the exhaust manifold.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the left Lambda sensor and release the wiring from the fastenings.

1. Disconnect the electrical connection for the right Lambda sensor and release the wiring from the bands.

Proceed with the removal - 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r . 1. Undo the nuts (1a) and remove reinforcement bracket (1b).

1. Unscrew the bolts securing the catalytic preconverter to the crankcase.2. Loosen the bolt fixing the catalytic pre-converter to the mounting bracket.

1. Undo the lower nuts (1a) and release the catalytic pre-converter (1b) from the exhaust manifold.Remove the gasket.

1. Undo the nuts (1a) and remove the exhaust manifold (1b).

Refitting ( Removing

) Place the exhaust manifold back in its housing and fix it tightening the nuts to the recommended torque.

Place the gasket in its housing, then connect the catalytic pre-converter to the exhaust manifold and tighten the lower nuts to the recommended torque.

Tighten the bolt fixing the catalytic pre-converter to the mounting bracket.Tighten the bolts securing the catalytic preconverter mounting bracket to the crankcase.Place the crankcase sump reinforcement bracket back in its housing and secure it using the nuts. Proceed with the refitting - 7055B54 under-engine guard - r r . Connect the electrical connection for the right Lambda sensor and fix the electrical wiring.Connect the electrical connection for the left Lambda sensor and secure the wiring.Tighten the nuts fixing the catalytic pre-converter to the exhaust manifold to the recommended torque.

Place the guide pipe for the engine oil dipstick back in its housing and secure it using the bolt. Proceed with the refitting - 1076A46 heat shield for catalytic preconverter r r . Proceed with the refitting - 1016A40 ignition coil cover on cylinder head- r+r . Proceed with the refitting - 7040D30 engine bay front beam cover - r r . Proceed with the removal - 7040D12 engine front side cover (one) lh or rh - r r (Right and left sides). Remove the car from the ramp.
