CAMSHAFTS
The camshafts are made from hardened and
tempered steel alloy and rotate on four supports. The camshafts are driven by a toothed belt
with a moving tensioner which automatically adjusts and maintains
the belt tension. The shaft acts directly on the inlet valves
and, via rods and rocker armsm, on the exhaust valves. The inlet tappets are the "light"
mechanical type consisting of a tempered steel alloy cup in direct
contact with the cam.The operation of the cups is transmitted
to the valve by means of a carbo-nitrided and tempered steel cap,
used for adjusting the valve clearance. The timing on the exhaust takes place by
means of a cast iron cup which, when in contact with the cam, transmits
the movement ot the valve via a rod - rocker arm system. The adjustment of the exhaust valve clearance
takes place using a special tool via a screw which acts directly
on the tappet rod.
