Removing ( Refitting ) 1. Release the electrical wiring for the rpm and timing sensor from the fixing on the crankcase sump.2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the rpm and timing sensor (2b).3. Undo the bolts fixing the crankcase sump.Heat the area where the crankcase sump matches with the cylinder block/crankcase and cut the sealant.4. Remove the crankcase sump.
1. Fit the tool for rotating the crankshaft.

Rotate the crankshaft until the right connecting rod caps are accessible.2. Undo the bolts (2a) and remove the right big end bearing caps (2b) complete with bearing shells (2c).3. Remove the bore/liner locks.

4. Remove the bores/liners, pistons and connecting rods for the right side.Proceed in the same way on the left side.
Refitting ( Removing ) Rotate the engine throughi 180° on the overhauling stand.Place the cylinder liners/bores, complete with seals, pistons and connecting rods back in their housings.
The pistons are fitted with the arrow stamped on the crown facing the front of the engine.
1. Fit the liner/bore locks and tighten the nuts to a torque of 1.0 - 1.5 daNm.

2. Measure the projection of the cylinder liners/bores in relation to the cylinder block/crankcase (2a) plane using the tool (2b) fitted with a dial gauge (2c) and check that it is within the recommended limits.

Repeat the above operations on the other side.
Rotate the engine through 180° on the overhauling stand.1. Fit the connecting rod caps (1a), complete with half-bearings (1b), and fix them tightening the bolts (1c) to the recommended torque.
The connecting rod caps have the number of the cylinder to which they belong on one side: when refitting, this number should be on the same side as the one on the small end.

Apply the recommended sealant to the entire perimeter of the crankcase sump.
Check the condition of the sealant on the rear main bearing cap; re-apply if necessary.

2. Fit the timing and rpm sensor (2a) and fix it using the bolts (2b).3. Fix the electrical wiring for the rpm and timing sensor on the crankcase sump.
