Refitting ( Removing )
If the front brake discs are being replaced, it is vital to check the oscillation in relation to the rotation axis following the instructions given below.
1. Secure the brake disc (1a) to the hub (1b) and secure it using the bolts position around 120° (they do not need to be tightened to torque).2. Position a dial gauge (2a) with a magnetic base (2b) on the steering knuckle (2c) (this is designed to refer the measurement to the actual steering knuckle).Rest the dial gauge pointer about 2 mm from the outside edge of the brake disc and zero the gauge. Rotate the brake disc through one complete revolution and check that the variations are less than 0.05 mm.If this tolerance is exceeded, undo the fixing bolts and rotate the disc by 1/10 turn (i.e. one opening) and repeat the checking operation using the dial gauge.Repeat this procedure moving the disc by 1/10th of a turn each time (i.e. one opening each time) until a position is found where the oscillation is less than 0.05 mm.If the recommended limit of 0.05 mm cannot be satisfied then the bearing/hub assembly must be replaced and the above procedure repeated in order to find the minimum oscillation position of the disc in relation to its axis of rotation preventing the possible onset of noise/vibrations during braking.
