Removing ( Refitting ) Place the car on a ramp with the wheels perfectly straight.Mark the position of the steering wheel in relation to the upper steering column shroud.Ensure that the ignition key is in the OFF position, then disconnect the negative (-) battery terminal.

Draw off the fluid from the power assisted steering reservoir using a suitable syringe.1. Undo bolts (1a), remove plastic pin (1b) and remove the under-facia lining driver side (1c).
Remove the driver side carpet.1. Undo bolts (1a) and remove the driver side footrest (1b).2. Undo bolts (2a) and remove the central console right side cover (2b)
1. Undo the bolt (1a) and disconnect the steering column (1b) from the power assisted steering box pinion.
The bolt is pretreated and cannot therefore be refitted.
1. Remove retaining ring (1a) and withdraw the fail-safe device (1b) from the steering box pinion.
1. Remove the floor lining, undo the bolts (1a) and remove the power steering box guard (1b) complete with rubber block (1c).

Undo the nuts (1a) and disconnect the track rods (1b) from the steering knuckles using the tool (1c).

1. Tighten the bolt on the power steering pipe retaining band.2. Undo the connector (2a) and disconnect the supply pipe from the pump to the power assisted steering box (2b), power assisted steering box side.3. Unscrew the connector (3a) on the return pipe from power steering box to the rigid pipe on the steering box side (3b).
1. Undo the nuts securing the power steering pipes to the steering box.
1. Undo the bolts fixing the power assisted steering box to the front suspension frame.
Release the power steering pipes from the power steering box.1. Remove the power steering box from the right front wheel compartment.
Refitting ( Removing ) 1. Place the power assisted steering box back in its housing and secure it tightening the bolts to the suspension frame to the recommended torque.

Tighten the nuts securing the power steering pipes to the steering box.1. Connect the return pipe from power steering box to rigid pipe (1a) power steering box side and secure by tightening fitting (1b) to the specified torque.

2. Connect the supply pipe from the pump to the power assisted steering box (2a), power assisted steering box side, and tighten the connector (2b) to the recommended torque.

3. Tighten the bolt securing the power assisted steering pipes retaining band.
Refit the power steering box heat shield in its seat. - 1076B52  exhaust pipe (one) leaving l/h or r/h exhaust manifold - r + rConnect the steering rods to the front and steering knuckles secure them tightening the nuts to the recommended torque.

Ensure the reference points on the steering wheel and the upper half casing are aligned.

Place the central console right side protection back in its housing and secure it using the bolt.Place the driver side footrest back in its housing and fix it using the bolts.Put the driver side floor carpet back in place.Place the driver side under-facia lining back in place and fix it using the bolts.Connect the negative (-) battery terminal.Fill the power steering circuit with the recommended fluid.
