3308536 - 5020M supplementary independent heater

DESCRIPTION

The "TERMO TOP Z" heater is an autonomous additional heater which is designed to heat the passenger compartment more quickly with the engine running. Its intermittent operation is linked to the temperature of the engine coolant and to the outside temperature detected by means of special sensors.

It basically consists of:

  • a heater unit (1) fixed to the right hand side of the cylinder block/crankcase
  • an electric fuel pump (2) fixed to the underbody near the fuel tank
  • an outside air temperature sensor (3) positioned under the left front light cluster
  • an exhaust pipe (4) connected directly to the heater unit.

Operating logics

The control unit controls the switching on, maintenance and switching off of the heater.

Switching on conditions:

  • engine started up
  • outside temperature below 5 ° C
  • engine coolant temperature below 60 ° C.
Maintenance conditions: the heater can operate in full load or half load conditions, according to the temperature of the engine coolant.

Switching off conditions:

  • temperature above 76.5 ° C
  • failed ignition of the fuel
  • fuel cut off during operation
  • heater voltage below 10.5 V
RecoveryThe control unit checks the efficiency of the system components for each ignition and if there is a failure it inhibits the operation of the burner. The control unit is equipped with a diagnostic line K.

Operation

The air/fuel mixture is ignited by the spark plug (1).The combustion is ensured by the air coming from an electric fan (2) and by the fuel coming from an electric metering pump. The heat produced in the combustion chamber (4) is surrendered to the engine coolant (5) which comes into contact with it.The exhaust gases (6) produced by the combustion are discharged through a special pipe.
