Functional description

Conventional radio connections P20 are connected to the back of the ICS unit: connector A for the fuel spply; connector B for connection to the cases; connector C for connection to CD player/loader P75 , located in the boot. The radio P20 is supplied directly from the battery. (maxifuse CENTR of B5 ) - to pin 4 of connector A - protected by fuse F4 of junction unit B1 . Pin 8 of connector A is earthed. Pin 1 of connector A receives the speedometer signal from the instrument E50 - pin 8 of connector B. Pin 5 of connector A is connected with the power source/amplifier aerial P25 , which controls the aerial built into the heated rear window. In addition, the radio P20 is connected to the aerial by means of the specific coaxial cable. The connector C of P20 is connected to the CD player/changer P75 by pins 7, 8 ,9, 10, 11, 12, 17, 19 and 20: these lines provide the supply, control and connection by bus to the CD changer.

Connector B of P20 is also the source of the cables carrying signals to the car's loudspeakers:

  • pins 1 and 2 for the right rear door speakers P41 and P48 .
  • pins 7 and 8 for the left rear door speakers P40 and P47 .
  • pins 3 and 4 for the left front door speakers P45 and P35 .
  • pins 5 and 6 to the right front speakers P36 and P46 ,
ICS display E60 - connector B pins 16 and 18 - controls radio P20 when it receives signals from device H16 (radio controls on the steering wheel) via the clock spring.
