3315754 - E7021 ASR / TCS - Functional description (VDC)

Functional description

The ASR and TCS functions are managed by ABS electronic control unit M50 , which controls pressure in the hydraulic circuit. In addition to all the normal connections of the ABS function (see E7020 ABS), the control unit M50 also controls the ASR and TCS functions: it is connected - pin 27 - using the specific deactivation button, located in the controls panel on the tunnel H36 (pin 11) When the function is deactivated, the control unit turns on the led next to the button (pin 4) from pin 18. Both button and led of H36 are ignition-operated (INT/A) from a line protected by fuse F5 of junction unit B1 . Simultaneously, control unit M50 sends a signal (pin 22) to instrument E50 (pin 18 connector C), which turns on the 'ASR/TCS' warning light (which also indicates faults in the VDC circuit; see E7022) to indicate the presence of faults in the system (SELF-DIAGNOSIS). When faults are present, the led on the control button does not come on. The warning light is supplied via pin 15 connector A of instrument E50 via the INT/A line protected by fuse F1 of control unit B1 . Signals from control unit M50 present at pins 24 and 40 are shared with the steering sensor K58 (see E7022).

Functional description

The antislip regulation function (ASR and TCS) acts on ABS electronic control unit M50 which controls pressure in the hydraulic circuit, and also engine management unit M10, by altering drive torque as required. Both control units are connected via a CAN line:

  • from pin 24 of M50 to pin 29 of connector A of M10 ;
  • from pin 40 of M50 to pin 12 of connector A of M10 .

Functional description

The connection between the ABS electronic control unit M50 and the engine management control unit M10 is via the specific CAN line;

  • from pin 24 of M50 to pin 9 of connector A of M10 ;
  • from pin 40 of M50 to pin 10 of connector A of M10 .

Functional description

Both control units M50 and M10 are not connected directly but via EAT control unit M55 . Pins 24 and 40 of control unit M50 are connected via a CAN line to pins 82 and 83 of automatic transmission control unit M55 . The engine management control unit is connected via pins 85 and 86 to the engine control unit at pins 12 and 29 respectively.
