) Place the steering wheel in the centred position with the wheels straight. Make sure that the ignition is off (STOP position), then disconnect the negative battery terminal (refer to op. 5530B10 battery - r+r ).

- 7040A43 cover (one only) for wiring beneath facia - r r . - 7040A37 fuse box cover - r r . - 7040A65 passenger compartment box lock , one , r r . 1. Remove the rubber protector (1a) and the accelerator pedal travel stop (1b).

1. Move aside the floor carpet, unscrew the nuts (1a) and remove the steering column universal joint guard (1b).2. Undo the bolt fixing the steering column to the power steering box pinion.

The bolt is pretreated and cannot therefore be refitted.

1. Withdraw and remove the lower steering shaft.

- 5580C18 air bag module - r+r .

Closely observe the safety regulations established for this operation.

- 7040A26 steering column trim - r+r . - 4110A11 steering wheel - r+r for replacement or check for versions with air bag . - 5550A12 complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag . 1. Remove the clutch pedal switch (1a) and brake pedal switch (1b) from their seats. - 5505A18 multi-function control unit - r r . 2. Undo the bolt (2a) and move the junction unit (2b).

- 7040D12 engine front side cover (one) lh or rh - r r (left) - 7040D14 engine bay rear side cover (one) lh or rh - r r (left) 1. Undo the bolt (1a) and move aside the coolant reservoir (1b) without disconnecting its pipes.

Drain the brake-clutch fluid from the reservoir using a suitable syringe.1. Remove the master cylinder guard.2. Disconnect the hose from the clutch reservoir to the master cylinder on the master cylinder side.3. Disconnect the rigid delivery pipe from the master cylinder.

1. Remove the split pin (1a), withdraw the pin (1b) and disconnect the brake pedal (1c) from the servo unit rod.2. Undo the nut and bolt and move the electrical connections mounting aside.3. Disconnect the electrical connection for the accelerator pedal potentiometer.

Refitting ( Removing

) 1. Fit the complete pedal assembly (1a), connect it to the servo unit and tighten the nuts (1b) and bolt (1c) to the specified torque.

Connect the electrical connection of the accelerator pedal potentiometer.Refit the electrical connections mounting in its seating and secure with the bolt and nut.Connect the brake pedal to the servo unit rod and secure with the pin and split pin. 1. Connect the rigid delivery pipe to the master cylinder and tighten the connector to the specified torque.

2. Connect the hose from the clutch reservoir to the master cylinder on the master cylinder side.3. Fit the master cylinder guard.

Refit the coolant reservoir in its seating and secure with its bolt.Refit the junction unit in its seating and secure with its bolt. - 5505A18 multi-function control unit - r r . - 5550A12 complete stalk unit - r+r for versions with air bag . - 4110A11 steering wheel - r+r for replacement or check for versions with air bag . - 7040A26 steering column trim - r+r . - 5580C18 air bag module - r+r . Refit the lower steering shaft in its seating.1. Tighten the bolt securing the steering column to the power steering box pinion to the specified torque.

2. Fit the steering column universal joint guard (2a) and secure it with its nuts (2b).Put the floor carpet back in place.

Fit the accelerator pedal travel stop complete with rubber protector.

For the 2.0 T.S. engine, after refitting the pedal assembly, adjust the accelerator control cable. (Refer to op. 1068A30 accelerator control cable - r + r ).

For 2.5 V6 - 3.0 V6 - 2.0 TB engines, after refitting the pedal assembly, adjust the accelerator control cable. (Refer to op. 1068A50 accelerator potentiometer - r+r ).
