Before removing and refitting the Window Bag module, the following preliminary operations must be carried out.

Place the ignition key in the OFF position and extract it;
Disconnect the battery leads and insulate.
Wait for 10 minutes before continuing.

FOLLOW ALL THE RECOMMENDED SAFETY FULES ( See assembly 5580C air bag system ).

Removing ( Refitting

) 1. Working at the rear of the vehicle, disconnect the electrical connection.

2. Release the bridge (2a) from the retainers (2b).3. Unscrew the nuts.

1. Working in the front of the vehicle, undo the rod fixing bolt.2. Disconnect the rod (2a) from the pillar retainers (2b).

1. Undo the bolts.2. Release the inner retainers for the bands, using the special tool.

3. Release the bands (3a) and keep the Window Bag module assembly.

Refitting ( Removing

) Observe the following precaution.

Handle the Window Bag module with extreme caution. Ensure the battery is disconnected.

If a new module is being fitted, attach the labels.1. Detach the removable part (1b) of the adhesive label from the new module (1a) and put it in a specific file recording the vehicle details (model, registration data, chassis no.) and the serial no. of the old control unit. This file should be kept for future checks. A new label is supplied together with the module, to be stuck on top of the existing one. However, it should first be perforated to indicate the month and 14 years after the year when the module is fitted (e.g. 2017 will correspond to 2003).

Fit the Window Bag module attaching the bands.Tighten the bolts fixing the curtain.

Attach the front rod to the retainers in the pillar.Tighten the front rod retaining bolt

Tighten the rear module fixing nuts.
