Functional description

All the information for the 'Trip computer' function is displayed on the LCD display contained in the instrument panel E050. The body computer node M001 provides the instrument panel with the ignition-dependent supply (pin 3 connector N) and direct battery supply (pin 1 connector N). All the useful information for managing the 'trip computer' function is transmitted via CAN from the body computer node M001 (pins 35, 36 connector I) to the instrument panel E050 (pins 7, 8 connector A).

The signals transmitted from the body computer node are:

  • fuel level, supplied by the electric pump N040 (pins 1, 2);
  • signal supplied by the speedometer signal K084 (pin 2);
  • engine rpm signal, supplied by the engine control unit M010 via the CAN network to the body computer node See E5030 PETROL ENGINE ELECTRONIC MANAGEMENT .
The TRIP electronic module uses these signals to process instantaneous and average fuel consumption information, range, average speed, mileage, duration etc. Via the key located on the steering column switch unit H005, the negative signal is sent (referred to earth C020 connector B) for the change of menu in the display of the trip computer information.
The earth C020 is fixed to the floor, and is located near the front right wheelarch (foot area).
