169002028 - L017 CLIMATE CONTROL RECIRCULATION AUTOMATIC MODE NOT WORKING

The recirculation is not closed automatically when there is pollution.
Results of the tests
1CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION OF CLIMATE CONTROL NODEAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
With the engine started, set the climate control system control unit to the AUTO position, adjust the temperature knob so that it reaches 22 °C, set the fan speed to 6 bars, then press the recirculation button (check that the recirculation warning light comes on). Then check, by feeling, that the air flow changes during the flap opening/closing function. Also locate the grille for the air intake casing in the engine compartment and check the intake of air in switch from recirculation to outside air intake
When the control unit is set to the FULL AUTO function and the outside temperature is below 3°C the air intake flap opens automatically to prevent the windscreen from misting up

2CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Connect the Examiner diagnostic equipment and check that there are no errors at the air recirculation actuator.Move on to Step 6 1Errors at the recirculation actuator.Move on to Step 3 1

4ELECTRICAL CONNECTIONS CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that the electrical wiring connections are not loose. Remove the control from the dashboard support and disconnect the cable connector from the control unit and reconnect it correctly for check for any false contacts. Remove the glove compartment and disconnect/reconnect the electrical connection to the actuator.Move on to Step 5 1Electrical wiring connections looseRestore the correct wiring connections. 5RECIRCULATION MOTOR OPERATION CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Then proceed as follows: with the engine running, manually engage the recirculation air intake function with the fan at the maximum speed. If the actuator works and the flap is driven, feel that the type of air flow alters during the movement. Deactivate the function by returning the actuator to the original condition. Identify the air intake casing grille on the vehicle and check by feeling the air intake with your hand in the switch from recirculation to outside air and vice versa. If the result of the check is positive, do not replace the actuator. To check further in case of doubts on the operation of the actuator, it is possible to carry out the check following the methods described in Test 5040DE if the air intake casing is easily accessible,See Test 5040D AIR CONDITIONER CONTROLSMove on to Step 6 1Incorrect operation of actuatorReplace the actuator    Op. 5040D75 AIR CONDITIONER RECIRCULATION FLAP CONTROL MOTOR R R
6RECIRCULATION MOTOR FLAP CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check that the air recirculation motor flap completes its travel without any hinderance.End of diagnosisFlap obstructed or damaged.Remove the air recirculation motor flap impediment or replace the flap, if damaged.
