169002039 - L020 PASSENGER SIDE TEMPERATURE ADJUSTMENT DOES NOT WORK

When the desired passenger side temperature is set, there is no corresponding flow of air at the required temperature.
Results of the tests
1CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATION OF CLIMATE CONTROL NODEAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
With the engine on and the compressor off, place the control unit in the AUTO function (MONO button off) and adjust the temperature using the passenger side temperature knob moving it from cold to hot. Also select the recirculation button to the closed position and set the fan speed to 3-4 bars (display) and the distribution to front ventilation. Using the diagnostic equipment check that the engine temperature reaches at least 70 °C. Now carry out the operations for checking the passenger compartment cooling function: with the engine on, at ambient temperature of around 20 °C, with the vehicle compressor on, place the control unit to AUTO, adjust the temperature knob from hot to maximum cold LO, the distribution to the front position, the fan speed to 3 bars and the outside air intake function. After about 5 minutes in these conditions, check using the diagnostic equipment that the temperature values for the passenger compartment and evaporator sensors show a decrease: from the initial temperature of about 20 °C (ambient temperature) gradually decreasing to a temperature of around 3.5°C for the evaporator sensor and around 6 °C for the passenger compartment temperature sensor. Feel whether the air coming out of the vents changes (getting colder) in temperature. Then check for any errors relating to the solar sensor. The solar sensor reference values are less than 50 W/mq.
a maximum difference between the driver and passenger selections of 7°C is permitted.

2CHECK USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

Connect the diagnostic equipment and check:

  • that there are no errors at the passenger side air mixture actuator
  • that there are no faults in the outside temperature sensor
  • that there are no faults in the passenger compartment temperature sensors
  • that there are no faults in the solar sensor
