2753010 - 5580C22 AIR BAG MODULE - Passenger side - R.R.

Before removing and refitting the passenger Air Bag module, the following preliminary operations must be carried out: (1) turn the ignition off ('STOP') and remove the key; (2) disconnect the battery terminals and insulate them; (3) wait at least 10 minutes before proceeding.

FOLLOW ALL THE RECOMMENDED SAFETY RULES (see assembly 5508C - AIR BAG SYSTEM).

Removing ( Refitting

Undo the retaining bolts.Remove the Air Bag module.2. Lift the safety catch and disconnect the electrical connection.

3. Remove the passenger Air Bag module.

Place the Air Bag module in the special cupboard, resting it on a free surface with the bag facing upwards.

Refitting ( Removing

) Follow these precautions:

Handle the Air Bag module with extreme caution, making sure it does not sustain impacts that could render it unusable. Ensure the battery is disconnected.

If a new module is being fitted, attach the labels. Detach the removable part of the adhesive label from the new module and put it in a specific file recording the vehicle details (model, registration data, chassis no.) and the serial no. of the old module. This file should be kept for future checks. A new label is supplied together with the module, to be stuck on top of the existing one. However, it should first be perforated to indicate the month and 14 years after the year when the module is fitted (e.g. 2017 will correspond to 2003). Connect the electrical connection.

Position the passenger Air Bag module in its seating.Tighten the fixing bolts to the specified torque.Fit the complet eglove compartment as described in the procedure: - 7040A18 glove compartment on facia - arrange - 5580C26 LOCK BARREL KEY/SWITCH for deactivating passenger 'AIR BAG - R.R.Connect the battery terminals.Check the operation of the system using the Examiner or another tester.
