Before working on the Air Bag system, it is essential to carry out the following preliminary operations: (1) turn the ignition off and remove the key; (2) disconnect the battery terminals and insulate them; (3) wait 10 minutes before proceeding.

FOLLOW ALL THE RECOMMENDED SAFETY RULES (see assembly 5508C - AIR BAG SYSTEM).

Removing ( Refitting ) Place the car on a lift. - 5580C18  air bag module - r+r

Before removing the steering wheel, place the wheels as parallel as possible to the longitudinal axis of the car.

1. Remove the cable pass from its seating on the tailgate. Secure the connectors to the wiring using suitable adhesive tape, so as to be able to remove them easily from the tailgate framework.Secure the end of the cable to a probe.1. Withdraw the wiring from the hole on the tailgate and, with the help of a second operator, work through the rear window centring hole located on the left and push the wiring so that it is not engaged on the tailgate framework.

It is important to use a tool with no sharp or cutting edges i order to avoid damaging the wiring, bodywork or painted parts.

Release the wiring from the retainers and remove it. Refitting ( Removing ) Position the wiring in its seating.Connect the aerial coaxial cable connections.Connect the electrical connections.

Fit the fuel pump protective cover.Restore the wiring fixings.Using the probe positioned previously, fit the wiring in the tailgate.Remove the probe positioned previously.Fit the cable pass in its seating in the tailgate.Connect the electrical connection.
