169002386 - E2021 BRAKE LIGHTS - FUNCTIONAL DESCRIPTION (SUV)

Operational description

The brake pedal switch I030:

  • at pin 4 receives an ignition-operated supply from the line protected by fuse F37;
  • at pin 2, when pressed, it sends the brake pedal pressed signal to pin 5 connector B of the body computer node M001;
  • for vehicles equipped with ABS, this signal reaches the body computer node M001 and the ABS control unit M050

The connection between the switch I030 and the junction unit under the dashboard B002 via the coupling D001. The coupling is housed, in the passenger compartment, in the lower part of the right front pillar, near the door cable loom, passenger side.

Having received the signal, the body computer node:

  • at pin 5 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in the rear light clusters F030 B and F031 B ;
  • at pin 6 connector E supplies the brake lights housed in the additional rear light cluster F040 .

The body computer node monitors the correct operation of the lights system signalling any failure by switching on the "lights failure" warning light in the instrument panel E050 in the following circumstances:

  • open load;
  • short circuit to earth;
  • short circuit to + battery.
