169002470 - E7024 DESCRIPTION (SUV)

The ELD system as an auxiliary take off system in situations where the wheels are slipping on 4x4 versions, allows the driver to brake the slipping wheels and therefore allow the take off of the vehicle using the control button in the dashboard that switches the function on/off.As the system is a function of the ABS/ASR control unit it is composed of:

  • ABS/ASR controlunit
  • 4 wheel rpm sensors
  • on/off button
The ELD function only takes place by means of the braking control unit (ABS-ASR) through the active intervention on the brakes carried out independently for all four wheels. The ELD does not include intervention on the engine. The ELD function is normally deactivated at the key on.The ELD is activated below a speed level of 30 Km/h beyond which the system remains available on stand-by. At speeds between 0 Km/h and 20 Km/h the ELD is 100% operational whilst at speeds of between 20 Km/h and 30 Km/h the system is deactivated following a deactivation ramp. If the speed goes below 30 Km/h once again (with the system activated), the ELD works again following the principles described above:

  • from 30 Km/h to 20 Km/h following a ramp
  • below 20 Km/h at 100%
If, above 30 Km/h with the system switched off, the ELD button in the dashboard is pressed, the function is activated (button warning light on) and is made available once the operating range is reached. The warning light in the ELD button comes on when the system is activated by the driver and goes out if it is deactivated or at the key off. After a key off and a subsequent key on the system is normally deactivated. The warning light in the system on/off button remains on even if the speed is more than 30 Km/h.    See descriptions 3350 TRACTION CONTROL
