184001978 - E2510 COURTESY LIGHTS - DESCRIPTION

Description

The front courtesy light includes two lamps with three control switches:

  • onely one of the lights can be turned on using the external switches;
  • the centre switch can turn on both lights, either constantly or with a timed delay, as described below or can deactivate both of them.
The centre rear courtesy light has only one bulb which can be turned on or off using the appropriate switch.

The front courtesy light operation is timed when the doors are opened according to a logic managed by the Body Computer:

  • when one of the doors is opened, the courtesy light timing delay is 3 minutes, reactivated each time one of the doors is opened;
  • if a door remains open for longer than three minutes, the courtesy lights go out and remain off until one of the doors is opened again;
  • if all the doors are closed during the 3 minute delay period, a second delay period of 10 seconds is activated and is interrupted if the ignition key is turned to the ON position;
  • when the doors is opened using the remote control (door release), the front courtesy lights come on for 10 seconds; the delay period is interrupted if the ignition key is turned ON;
  • when the vehicle is closed (door locking) the courtesy lights are switched off;
  • when the ignition key is turned OFF and extracted (the Body Computer checks that there is no transponder) the courtesy lights come on for 10 seconds;
  • the courtesy lights also come on if the inertia switch is activated (the information is sent via the instrument panel CAN) for a period of 15 minutes.
The switching on or off always takes place gradually (dimmer) with the cycle lasting 2 seconds.If one or more doors are open, this is shown on the instrument panel display; the warning light remain on until all the vehicle doors and boot lid are properly shut. If a given speed limit is exceeded, this is also signalled by means of a buzzer.The power supply for all the courtesy lights follows the control logic for the battery voltage (known as "SBMT"); with the ignition OFF, when any of the doors or the boot is opened, or the doors are unlocked, a timed period of 15 minutes is set after which all the courtesy lights are deactivated.
