184000625 - Z75 STEERING ANGLE SENSOR ERROR

The diagnostic equipment signals the following errors: "C1117 - Steering Angle Sensor" and "C1517 - Steering Angle sensor: compensation error"
These errors are signalled if there is a short circuit at the CAN (supply or earth), if it is damaged or not correctly fitted. Error C1117 can also occur after the battery has been disconnected and reconnected or as a result of difficulties in starting because the information coming from the electric steering is not felt to be valid by the NFR.
Results of the tests
0PRELIMINARY CHECKSAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check whether the battery has been disconnected and reconnected in the workshop or if the VDC warning light has come on after difficulties in startingMove on to Step 2The VDC warning light has remained on after the battery has been disconnected and reconnectedMove on to Step 1

1VALIDATION OF STEERING ANGLE INFORMATIONAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Carry out a key on and, after the warning light check, turn the steering wheel a few degrees around the zero (wheels straight) position. Then carry out a key off/key onMove on to Step 6The VDC warning light does not go outMove on to Step 2
2CHECKS USING DIAGNOSTIC EQUIPMENTAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Connect the diagnostic equipment and check the operation of the steering angle sensor. To do this enter the PARAMETERS ambient and display the STEERING ANGLE parameter: the values should decrease when the steering wheel is turned in a clockwise direction (to the right) and increase when it is turned in the opposite directionMove on to Step 6Failed or irregular operation of the steering angle sensor: the steering angle value is always zeroMove on to Step 3
3WHEEL TOE IN CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the toe in of the front and rear wheelsMove on to Step 4The vehicle has lost its toe inRestore the toe in and move on to Step 6
4CAN CHECKAll OKProblems encounteredOperation

5ELECTRICAL CHECKSAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Check the continuity of the wiring and the insulation of the line from the NFR to the NGE E7023 ESP Move on to Step 6Faults in the connectionRestore the correct connection
6CHECK ON CORRECT OPERATIONAll OKProblems encounteredOperation
Delete the errors using the diagnostic equipment.Carry out a road test to ensure that the control unit checks whether there are any errors still present. See Test 3350EB STEERING ANGLE SENSOR OPERATION CHECKReturn to the workshop and check that the fault is no longer present using the diagnostic equipmentEnd of diagnosisThe fault persistsMove on to Step 0
