Operational description

Engine management control unit M10 controls and governs the entire electronic ignition and injection system.The ignition-operated power supply (15/54) arrives via a line protected by fuse F16 of engine compartment control unit B1 at pin 23 of connector A of M10 .

Main injection relay T9 of B1 controls the entire system; the supply line is protected by fuse F18 of B1. This is excited by a control signal (earth) from pin 80 of connector A of control unit M10 and thus issues a power supply.

  • at pin 5 of connector A of the control unit, via the line of fuse F17 of B1 ;
  • at pins 4 and 6 of connector A of the control unit, via the line of fuseF22 of B1 ;
  • at solenoid L30 and at control unit M15 , and at pin 5 of connector B of M10 via a line from fuse F11 of B1
  • Fuel pump relay T10 of B1 is supplied by a line from fuse F21 of B1 .
This is excited by a command signal (earth) from pin 75 of connector A of control unit M10 and supplies power to fuel pump N40 , which is earthed via inertia switch I50 , that cuts off the circuit in the case of impact and thus prevents dangerous outflows of fuel.Pins 1, 2 and 3 of connector A and pin 72 of connector B of M10 are earthed.Fuel pump relay T19 of B1 is supplied by a line from fuse F20 of B1 .This is excited by a control signal (earth) from pin 76 connector A of control unit M10 and supplies power to the diesel heater coil , located iin K100 .Control unit M15 , that manages the preheating of glow plugs A40 , is supplied directly from the battery via a line protected by shunt fuse B37. This is spuplied at connector C - from the line of fuse F11 of B1 , and exchanges command and control signals with pins 74 and 70 of connector A of M10, which controls the timing. Connector B is connected to glow plugs A40 .Engine control unit M10 receives signals from the various sensors in order to monitor all engine service parameters.RPM sensor K46 supplies, via a frequency signal exchanged with pins 43 and 59 of connector B of control unit M10 , information on engine speed.Timing sensor K47 is supplied from pin 21 of connector B of M10 . This receives a reference earath from pin 56 of connector B of control unit M10 and on the way to this, a frequency signal corresponding to phase at pin 25 of connector B.Engine coolant sensor/sender unit M010 of the control unit K36 receives a reference earth from pin 29 of connector B of control unit M10 , and sends a signal proportional to engine coolant temperature to pin 54 of connector B .Air flow meter K41 receives power from the ignition-controlled line (15/54) of fuse F16 of B1 , from pin 27 of connector B of M10 it receives a reference earth. This is supplied by the control unit from pin 14 of connector B of M10 , and sends a signal proportional to the air flow to pin 40 of connector B. Air temperature sensor inside K41 also sends an air temperature signal to pin 10 of connector B of M10 .Accelerator pedal K55 contains two potentiometers (one main one and one safety backup). The former receives power and earth signals from pins 35 and 83 of connector A of M10 and sends a corresponding signal to pin 65. The second receives power and earth from pins 15 and 32 of connector A of M10 and sends a signal to pin 41.Fuel temperature sensor K100 detects the temperature of the incoming diesel fuel. It receives a reference earth from pin 13 of connector A of M10 and sends a fuel temperature signal to pin 611.Turbocharging sensor K82 detects the pressure and temperature in the intake chamber downstream of the turbocharger. This is supplied by pin 24 of connector B of M10 and receives a reference earth from pin 23 of connector B. The signal corresponding to the pressure value is sent to pin 41 of control unit connector B.Fuel pressure sensor K83 supplies the injection control unit with a feedback signal to modulate injection pressure and duration. It receives power and a reference earth from pins 38 and 6 of connector B of M10 ; it then sends a pressure signal to pin 8.Control unit M10 receives - at pin 9 of connector B - a negative signal from the engine oil minimum pressure sensor K30 .Pin 92 of M10 receives a positive N.O. signal from the brake light switch I30 , supplied via the ignition (INT) from fuse F37 of control unit B2 .Pin 68 of M10 receives a positive N.C. signal from the brake light switch I30 , supplied via the ignition (INT) from fuse F35 of control unit B2 .Pin 93 of M10 receives a negative signal from clutch switch I31 .The water presence sensor in diesel filter K31 ; is supplied by the ignition-controlled line (INT) of fuse F35 of B2 , and sends the corresponding signal to pin 90 of connector A of M10 .Fuel prssure regulator N77 maintains the fuel pressure in the accumulator constant. Both control signals come from pins 3 and 34 of connector B of control unit M10 .The EGR solenoid L30 controls exhaust gas recirculation. It is supplied by a line from fuse F11 of B1 , and is controlled by a signal from pin 15 of connector B of M10 .Injectors N70 are connected to hte engine control unit from pins 47-16, 49-17, 48-31, 46-1 for cylinders 1, 2, 3 and 4 respectively.Engine control unit M10 - pins 18, 86, 40 and 64 - to Body Computer M1 engine coolant temperature, which is sent to instrument panel E50, which controls the associated gauge and warning light, which is sent to the rev counter on instrument panel E50; minimum engine oil pressure, which is sent to instrument panel E50 that controls the associated warning light; glow plug preheating, which is sent to instrument panel E50 that controls the associated warning light; presence of water in the diesel filter, which is sent to instrument panel E50 to control the associated warning light.It receives a speedometer signal via the CAN network that is generated by the ABS control unit M50 .The control unit self-diagnostic system M10 also generates a negative signal that leaves pin 78 of connector A - that is connected directly to the EOBD warning light located in instrument panel E50 .The check function inside control panel E50 also monitors activation of the inertia switch and faults in the engine temperature sensor, oil pressure sensor and diesel filter sensor: If faults are detected, the general failure warning light is turned on and the information is shown simultaneously on the display.The self-diagnostic data can be read by connecting to connector C of Body Computer M1 pin 7: it receives signals from pin 88 of connector A from control unit M10 via the appropriate diagnostic line.The self-diagnostic data may be read by connecting to connector C of Body Computer M1 pin 7, which receives signals from pin 88 of connector A of control unit M10 via the appropriate diagnostic line.
